Navratri means 9 nights of celebration. Chaitra Navratri is celebrated in the month of Chaitra. That is the first month of the Hindu Lunar calendar. It falls in March or April as per the Gregorian calendar. Chaitra Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Shakti.
In 2020, Chaitra Navratri will begin on Wednesday, March 25 and will end on Thursday, April 2.
It is a celebration of the victory of good over evil. During Chaitra Navratri, people worship Goddess Durga to seek her blessings. Goddess Durga is the symbol or ultimate strength.

26 March – Day 2 – Dwitiya: Sindhara Dooj, Brahmacharini Puja
27 March – Day 3 – Tritiya: Gauri Puja, Saubhagya Teej Chandraghanta Puja
28 March – Day 4 – Chaturthi: Kushmanda Puja, Vinayaka Chaturthi
29 March – Day 5 – Panchami: Naag Puja, Lakshmi Panchami Skandamata Puja
30 March – Day 6 – Shasthi: Skanda Sashti, Yamuna Chhath Katyayani Puja
31 March – Day 7 – Saptami: Maha Saptami, Kalaratri Puja
1 April – Day 8 – Asthami: Durga Ashtami, Mahagauri Puja Annapurna Ashtami, Sandhi Puja
2 April – Day 9 – Navami: Rama Navami
3 April – Day 10 – Dashami: Navratri Parana
During all 10 days of Chaitra Navratri, people wake up early in the morning. They take a bath and wear new clothes. After that, they worship Goddess Durga and organize special puja to seek her blessings. They chant mantras and offer different delicacies to the Goddess. Afterward, those delicacies are given to people as a Prasad.
