khasta kachori

Kachori can have various varieties. One of the famous Kachoris is the crispy one, known as Khasta Kachori. Let’s learn how we can make it at home.

Ingredients of Khasta Kachori:

To make a perfect Khasta Kachodi, use the following ingredients in the exact measurement.

ItemQuantity
Maida4 cups
Hot oil8 tablespoons
Oil (for frying)As required
SaltTo taste
Moong dal (half boiled)1 cup
Gram flour1 cup
Oil (for filling)1/2 cup
Garam masala3-4 teaspoons
Pomegranate seeds (crushed)2 tablespoons
Mango powder1 teaspoon

Preparing the filling:

Heat half cup of oil in a frying pan. Add moong dal and cook it for almost 10 minutes. Also, stir continuously. Then add gram flour and cook it for some time. After that, add pomegranate seeds, garam masala, and mango powder. Cook it for some time too, then set aside.

Preparing the dough:

Add salt and oil into the flour and knead it to make a hard dough. Cover it properly then keep it aside for about 15 minutes. Divide the dough into small equal portions.

Making the Kachoris:

Roll each dough ball in a round circle. Then put 1 teaspoon of filling onto it and seal it with dough. Remember to keep all the Kachodis under a wet muslin cloth.

Frying the Kachoris:

Preheat oil in a deep frying pan till it is smoking. Then remove it from fire and let it cool down. After that, put it again on fire on a low flame. This process is to make the Kachoris Khasta. Lift the Kachoris one by one and flatten each a bit with hands. Now put them into oil for frying. Fry till Kachoris are golden from both sides. Take Kachoris out and put on a strainer so that excess oil drains away.

Serve fresh so that the crisp doesn’t fade. Make Kachoris a part of your Holi 2020 menu to add crisp to the festival. We assure you that everyone will love this snack.
