Saankhein is a traditional snack that is full of nutrition. With all healthy ingredients, it adds a perfect variety in the menu of vegetarian people on Holi. See how you can make it at home.
You will need the following ingredients to make Saankhein. Take care of the measurements.
|Soaked chana dal||1 cup|
|Soaked moong dhuli||1/3 cup|
|Soaked urad dhuli||1/3 cup|
|Soaked arhar dal||1/3 cup|
|Chili powder||1 teaspoon|
|Baking soda||1/2 teaspoon|
|Oil||For deep frying|
Making of Saankhein:
The first step is to soak all the lentils. Then grind them all till they get the shape of the dough. Remember, a little grainy dough shape is to be achieved without the need to add water. After that, mix other dry ingredients too. Then shape the dough is small flat circles. Preheat oil in a deep pan on a high flame. Add the dough balls into it and make sure no one touches another; otherwise, they will stick together. After about 10 seconds, turn the flame low. Cook until they become firm, but make sure they don’t turn brown.
Take them out from the oil and set aside for cooling. When they are cool, cut them into the shape of thick slices. Now turn the flame high and deep fry these slices to make them crispy. Make sure the color doesn’t darken much. Take them out of the oil. Place on paper so that the excess oil soaks out. Now you are ready to serve it with green chutney.
